How to Add an HTML Sitemap Page in WordPress (2 Ways)
There are several ways to add an HTML sitemap page to a WordPress website, but two of the most common methods are:
Method 1: Using a Plugin
- Log in to your WordPress dashboard and go to the “Plugins” section.
- Click “Add New” and search for an HTML sitemap plugin, such as “Simple Sitemap.”
- Install and activate the plugin.
- Once the plugin is activated, go to “Pages” and click “Add New” to create a new page.
- Give the page a title, such as “Sitemap,” and add the shortcode provided by the plugin: [simple-sitemap].
- Save the page and preview it to make sure the sitemap is displaying correctly.
Method 2: Manually Creating a Sitemap Page
- Log in to your WordPress dashboard and go to the “Pages” section.
- Click “Add New” to create a new page.
- Give the page a title, such as “Sitemap.”
- In the content area of the page, manually create a list of all your website’s pages and posts, organized into sections if desired.
- Add links to each page and post in the list, so visitors can easily click through to the content they want to view.
- Save the page and preview it to make sure the sitemap is displaying correctly.
Note: It’s important to keep your sitemap page up to date as you add or remove pages and posts from your website. Using a plugin can help automate this process, but if you’re manually creating a sitemap page, be sure to update it regularly.
